Human body is made of different elements which are called body parts. First, let’s take a closer look at our head.

We can distinguish many of its subparts. There are two eyes, which help us see the world. Above the eyes there are brows, usually dark and thick. Be careful not to mix them with eyelashes – these are thin hairs that surround the eyes. Above the brows there is a wide, flat element of our head – the forehead. We also have a pair of ears, thanks to which we can hear things. Apart from them, we use our nose to smell things and our mouth – for example to kiss people in the cheek or to make funny faces! And if we make a big smile – or say „cheese” – one can see our teeth. However, some people who don’t take care of their teeth may have a missing tooth. Last but not least, in the lower part of our face there is the jaw together with the chin.

The head is connected to the rest of our body by the means of the neck.

Other important body parts are arms, which are linked to the torso with shoulders and have got a hollow part called the armpit. The arm is usually long and ends with the hand. Each hand is composed of five fingers, each of which has a number of knuckles, which enable you to bend your fingers. The shortest finger is called the thumb. At the end of our fingers there are nails. There is also the elbow, sticking out when the arm is bent, and the wrist that connects your hand and arm.

Legs are yet another long body parts. A leg can be divided into the thigh, the knee – on which you can kneel, the calf and the foot. Each of the two feet has five toes. The hard part on which you stand is called the heel, and the protruding bone, which joins the foot and the rest of the leg, is called the ankle.

The last parts of the body to be mentioned are the back, on which we can carry a backpack, and the bottom, on which we can simply seat. And the soft part of your torso below breasts is called the stomach, in the middle of which there is a small round hollowing – the navel.
